ABSTRACT
This special session welcomes presentations of new developments in the fields of oceanographic observations. Methods for harmonise and blend measurements coming from different sensors and platforms at different space and time scale as well as results from inter-comparison exercises will be of great interest. Definition and test of efficient metrics for the assessment of ocean model performances and new tools for data presentation and dissemination will be also addressed.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Paola Picco is Professor of Physical Oceanography at the Italian Hydrographic Institute. Main interest and research activity include air-sea interaction and marine observing systems.
Dr Francesca Rolle is a chemist and holds a PhD in “Metrology: Measuring Science and Technique”, from Politecnico of Torino, Italy. She is a post-doc researcher at the Italian Metrology Institute “Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica” (INRIM).
She carries out research activities in the field of metrology in chemistry, in particular concerning environmental pollution, within the INRIM Scientific Division “Applied Metrology and Engineering”. Her main activities are the development of analytical methods for the quantification of gaseous atmospheric pollutants and organic micropollutants in real matrices, the establishment of correct traceability chains and the uncertainty evaluation.
She spent a research period at the Chemistry Department of the Laboratoire National de Métrologie et d’Essais (LNE, France) in 2013 and a secondment period at the Chemistry Department of the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM, France) in 2018.
From 2018, she is also Secretary of Eurachem. She is co-author of about 20 publications on international journals and conference proceedings.
Dr Michela Sega is a chemist and holds a PhD in Chemical Sciences, from the University of Torino, Italy. She is a senior scientist at the Italian Metrology Institute “Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica – INRIM”. She is the head of the INRIM Scientific Division “Applied Metrology and Engineering” and leads the laboratory of Primary gravimetric gas mixtures and organic analysis. Her main research activities are related to metrology in chemistry, mainly focused on gas analysis and organic analysis.
She is currently the chairperson of CITAC and of the IMEKO Technical Committee TC8 “Traceability in metrology”. She is a member of Eurachem and had been the chairperson of the EURAMET Technical Committee on Metrology in Chemistry from 2011 to 2015.
She is co-author of about 30 publications on international and national journals.
