IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering - CALL FOR PAPERS
The Journal will publish a Special Issue focusing on leading-edge research and developments in the domain of Sea Metrology, following on from the 2023 IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for the Sea, Malta, 4-6 October 2023. This workshop was sponsored by the Oceanic Engineering Society (OES).
This special issue is only open to papers that are expanded versions of the short papers presented at the MetroSea 2023 Workshop. The expanded version of any paper must contain new material, and no more than 25% of it can come directly from the MetroSea 2023 short paper.

PRESENTATION OF THE PAPERS
Deadline for submissions of papers: 4 March 2024. Manuscripts submitted prior to this date will be eligible for
consideration for publication in the Special Issue.
All manuscripts must be submitted through the Journal’s website:
Authors should include a cover letter when submitting their manuscript indicating that the contribution is intended for the “MetroSea 2023” Special Issue, and a PDF of their MetroSea 2023 short paper. If the authorship deviates from the short paper presented at MetroSea 2023 and published in IEEE Xplore, the changes should be described and explained. The cover letter should also indicate how the manuscript has been developed beyond the material published in IEEE Xplore.
The Journal encourages authors to support JOE efforts to publish reproducible results through sharing of code and data. This way, other researchers can build upon your work and your contributions will have higher impact in our community, increasing the value of your paper and potentially increasing citation rate.
For additional information, please see the editorial at
Upon acceptance by the Editor-in-Chief, individual papers will be posted on IEEE Xplore, thus becoming downloadable and citable prior to publication of the entire collection of “MetroSea 2023” papers in a regular, quarterly issue of the Journal.
Target date for publication in JOE:January 2025.
