Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Hydrographic Institute (Istituto Idrografico della Marina – IIM), attendees of Metrosea 2025 will have the opportunity to visit two locations within walking distance from the conference venue:

  • The tide gauge at Ponte Morosini, where sea level measurements began in 1884. In 1954, these measurements have been used to calculate the mean sea level as a reference for altimetry in Italy.
  • The historical collection of measuring instruments related to hydrography, sea, and navigation, exhibited in the Galata Maritime Museum. Please note that access to the rest of the museum is not included in the visit.

The provisional schedule is as follows:

  • Group A - October 8 - 13:30 - First Visit Tide Gauge - Second Visit Historical Collection - Return time Before 15:00
  • Group B - October 8 - 13:30 - First Visit Historical Collection - Second Visit Tide Gauge - Return time Before 15:00
